What Can I Wear?

Clothing

  1. Visitors are required to wear their own suitable clothing appropriate for the weather.
  2. Climbing shoes are provided but you may be able to wear your own shoes if suitable. See below for more guidelines. If borrowing shoes then socks must be worn and can be purchased at reception if not wearing any on arrival.
  3. We recommend jeans/ trousers/ shorts as opposed to skirts or dresses as a full harness will be worn by all climbers.
  4. Climb jackets and gilets are available to use as an extra layer on the climb. Ask your guide for this when collecting your equipment.
  5. Full body suits* are available to be hired on arrival at reception (*fee applies)
  6. We recommend you wear gloves and hats during the Winter and cold days.
  7. You are able to take your mobile phone or compact camera up to the roof with you but it must be stored away in a button or zip pocket on your clothing or jacket.
  8. Long hair must be tied back

Climbing Shoes

Optional climbing shoes are available to borrow on arrival. You can climb wearing your own shoes if they fulfil the following guidelines:

  1. Velcro or laced fastening.
  2. Deep tread – walking/hiking shoes/boots are ideal (minimum 4mm Lug Depth). The shoe tread should be evenly distributed across the sole.
  3. The soles/tread must be clean and free of mud and obstructions to not damage the walkway.
  4. Fashion trainers with shallow treads are not suitable.

The final decision as to suitability will be made by the team on the day. Climbing shoes will be provided by us if your shoes are not appropriate or if you prefer to wear ours anyway. Socks must be worn and can be purchased at reception if not wearing any on arrival.
